Nicaragua - A Horizon of Opportunities
with Tourism Intern Kayleigh
They say that travel is the only thing you can buy which makes you richer. As a tourism and hospitality major, this is something I whole-heartedly believe. Here in Nicaragua, there is no shortage of fun and adventure with volcanos to climb and board down, canopy tours, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and cultural and historical tours. The country is rich in culture and continues to stay true to their roots and traditions. Coming to Nicaragua and experiencing the customs is something that I know I will take with me throughout my life and future adventures. Tourism is now the second largest industry in the nation and it’s amazing to see the benefits it’s had for the local communities. Nicaragua has a strong presence of community based tourism. When tourists come to see the attractions and participate in the activities Nicaragua has to offer, the money is being filtered back into the community.
Calling all adventure travelers, thrill seekers, and explorers! Just last week, I went on a full moon hike where I saw lava while watching the sunrise. It was by far the coolest experience yet.
And thanks to our friends at PRONicaragua.org for sharing this beautiful video!
